All gender equality measures of the TRR 195 are coordinated by the gender equality and diversity committee and the office.
We can support career-promoting measures for female scientists and scientists from disadvantaged minorities in the SFB-TRR 195 and general measures for a better reconciliation of family and science within the SFB-TRR 195.
In the course of the SFB-TRR 195’s existence, we have developed a whole series of measures that we regularly organize or support. These include
- The Women’s Conference Series “Women in Algebra and Symbolic Computation”
- The Role-Model exhibition of our female scientists “Women of Mathematics throughout Europe meet SFB-TRR 195”
- Welcome letter for all new female members of the SFB-TRR 195 with all important information on gender and diversity topics and support structures
- Mediators in case of conflict
- Special career development trainings for women and disadvantaged minorities (e.g. series “Empowerment in Math“, workshop “How to advance your research career and get funding“, indivdual coaching etc.)
- Awareness-raising measures for everyone in the SFB (e.g. workshop “Unconscious Bias“)
- Network meetings on the margins of all major conferences and retreats
If you have special interests/ideas/needs, do not hesitate to contact us.
Here are some impressions of selected events we organize / have organized:
- From December 9 – 11, 2024 the third edition of the workshop “Women in Algebra and Symbolic Computation” will take place at the Kurparkhotel in Bad Dürkheim. The conference is dedicated to the promotion of female researchers in the research area of our TRR.
- On May 24, 2024, we have organized a workshop on the “Imposter Syndrome” at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken. Further information about the topic and the leader of the workshop can be found here. Here are some impressions
- We have once again expanded our expansion of the exhibition “Women of Mathematics throughout Europe“. In addition to the existing 7 female professors, 12 female doctoral students have now been added with their experiences and dreams: On Friday, November 3, 2023, the SFB-TRR 195, the Department of Mathematics of Saarland University and the Gender Equality Office open the exhibition Women & Mathematics – Women of Mathematics feat. Visionary – mit den Augen der Mathematik. Part of it are 19 portraits of female mathematicians of the SFB-TRR 195. The second part presents pictures of the IMAGINARY exhibition, designed by the Mathematical Research Institute Oberwolfach (MFO). More information can be found here. The Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) broadcast a nice television report about our exhibition opening in the program “aktueller bericht” from November 7th, 2023. It can be viewed here from minute 18:55.
