The aim of the project is the development of a theory of generalised Gelfand-Graev characters for finite groups of Lie type in bad characteristic. In particular, we aim at obtaining explicit formulas for the candidate characters defined in the first part of our project. These should then be applied to the solution of open problems in the character theory of these groups, like character values on unipotent elements and properties of decomposition matrices in non-defining characteristic, like uni-triangularity.
