The aim of this project is the determination and investigation of the generic character table of $Spin_8^+(q)$. Methods include the use of Lusztig’s theory, for example the values of generalised Green functions, as well as ad hoc arguments relying on properties of character tables. The results shall be used to determine the action of outer automorphisms on the ordinary characters, thus contributing to the verification of local-global conjectures for this series of groups. In the course of this project we also intend to improve the software support for generic character tables.
