July : Tropical Geometry

The subject of this year’s Block Seminar is Tropical Geometry. The venue is the Neumühle in Tünsdorf close to Mettlach. Registration will begin on Monday morning, the 22.07.2019. Lunch will be provided that day there. The seminar will end on Thursday afternoon, the 25.07.2019, at around 15.30 h.

This year we will do joint group work. There is no need to prepare a talk in advance. Instaead, the talks will be prepared in groups while we are there, with material being provided at the venue. In order for everyone to be at least roughly the same level for the beginning we ask you to read up to page 34 in the book ,,Tropical Geometry” by Johanns Rau and Grigory Mikhalkin. There are three groups (see participants’ table).
