Advertisemt: PhD position in Representation Theory
We advertise a PhD position in Algebra available immediately,
for 3 years until end of 2028. The position is funded by a joint
project of M. Geck, F. Luebeck and G. Malle within the SFB-TRR 195
“Symbolic tools in mathematics and their application”
(www.computeralgebra.de/sfb); there are no teaching duties involved.
The position can be based at RWTH Aachen and/or University of
Stuttgart and/or RPTU Kaiserslautern. The intended subject of the
PhD project is “Generic character tables of finite groups of Lie
type, and applications”. Prerequisites are a basic knowledge about
ordinary and modular representations of finite groups, and at least
some experience in using a computer algebra system like GAP or OSCAR.
